This post is going to focus on Development.

What is ‘Development’?  Well what it is not is ‘recruitment’.

Of course recruiting new members is a integral part of growing Scouting and making it available to more, but on it’s own will not make us meet our challenge.

Development is about the bigger picture, supporting the infrastructure to make recruitment a success, things like…

  • Understanding where Scouting is needed, and where it is not going to take hold.
  • Improving programmes so that people want to join.
  • Creating a rewarding culture that adults want to be part of.
  • Empowering everyone to ‘sell’ Scouting at every opportunity.
  • Making new member’s welcome to Scouting an easy and enjoyable experience.

To help Norfolk achieve our vision for 2018, we are creating a new team of volunteers to drive our development. The team will be formed as a Active Support Unit.

Here is some more details about the Unit, the Unit Manager and Unit Members responsibilities.
