Details are now available about how to apply to attend the World Scout Jamboree in 2019.
The 24th World Scout Jamboree is being organised jointly between Mexico, United States of America and Canada between 22 July and 2 August 2019. The Jamboree is being held in the United States.
Approximately 40,000 to 50,000 Scouts from all over the World will be invited to the event.
The UK allocation has been made and now is the time for us to sort out our two patrols.
We have been paired up with Suffolk to form a full contingent which is made up of 36 young people and 4 leaders. Norfolk will have two patrols which will be 18 Young People and two contingent leaders.
To qualify to be a Unit Member the applicant must have been born between 22 July 2001 and 21 July 2005.
The cost of the Jamboree has not yet been decided and interested parties will be informed as soon as this figure is announced. This cost will include all Jamboree fees, travel, uniform etc. but will not include any local training camps / activities that may be arranged prior to, or after, the Jamboree.
The cost of the Jamboree should not inhibit members from applying as funding and grants etc. may be available.
Please pass on this information to any interested members so that they are given the information and opportunity to apply to attend this event. A young person only gets one opportunity to attend a World Jamboree as a participant.
Interested Scouts or Explorers should complete this online application form before Sunday 16 July 2017.
In the event of more members applying for the available places there will be a selection process carried out as soon as possible.
As the Jamboree is taking place in just over two years, selection will take place over the summer/start of September as training and fundraising activities will be starting in late September 2017.
More details of the Jamboree can be found on http://2019wsj.org/
