1st Mundesley Air Scouts had a visit from the RAF and various dignitaries on 23 November as they get ready to gain recognition by the RAF.
As it was too wet outside for rifle shooting, The scouts built some model aircraft for “round-the-pole” flying, to be displayed as their main activity.
Among those in attendance were the Rev. Andrew Jones, the District Commissioner Paul Henriksen, District chairman Fred Crane, ADC Scouts Colin Begley and County Chair Rena Savage and AGSL Steve Bell from 1st Carlton Coleville Air Scouts.
In order to gain air experience flying in a PA28 aircraft flying out of Shipham and Seething Airfields, 1st Mundesley have worked with 1st Carlton Coleville over the last year. AGSL Steve Bell from 1st Carlton Coleville Air Scouts came along as our specific point of contact for flying.
Inspection was performed by Wing Commander David Millar MBE GCGI RAFVR(T), who looked at scout attendance, uniform smartness, knowledge of the RAF and various challenge badges held by the Scouts.
Wg Cdr Millar also looked at the condition of the HQ and the equipment as well as ensuring an active balanced program was being delivered by the leadership team.
Wg Cdr Millar has endorsed the 1st Mundesley Air Scouts application for RAF recognition where they now await confirmation through HQ Scouts and HQ Air Cadets for the outcome.
GSL, Jamie Coleman sais “The Scouts were fantastic, very smartly dressed and have worked very hard over the last 6 months to achieve this position and a great deal of credit goes to them and the leaders.”
The evening also saw Liam Davis presented with a Commissioners’ Commendation to recognise his exceptional conduct during his time as a Young Leader.
