Rotary Project

Norwich Blackfriars Rotary Club is working with St Martins in Norwich to provide much needed support to the homeless in the City.

St Martins supports around 200 people in total some of whom use the organisation’s comprehensive range of shelter and support services,  whilst around 30 are still sleeping on the streets.

Our project aims to provide the most needy of these people with rucksacks filled with items to make life a little easier for them as we approach the coldest winter months. These items include:  winter hats, gloves, and scarves (which can be good second hand items) and socks and men’s underwear (which must be new).  Also needed are basic personal hygiene items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste,  hand cream,  baby wipes, and torches and flasks.  Our Rotary Club members will be the main providers of these items.

We are delighted to be working with the Scouts in Norfolk to make this happen and seek donations of reasonable quality used rucksacks which we can then fill with the items set out above.  We would also be very pleased to receive any of the “filler” items if anyone wishes to donate these.

Members of our Rotary Club will collect the Scouts’ donation and liaise with St Martins to ensure they are delivered to those most in need.

You can donate your rucksack(s) by dropping them off at either of these locations:

  • County Office between 9am – 5pm
  • Trading Post (Mon & Thurs 3 til 7, Tues, Fri & Sat 10 til 4)
