This weekend (7-9th June 2019) saw the return of East Norfolk District Cubs to Eaton Vale for their annual camp, this year it was all about Christmas!
Over the weekend 60 Cubs plus leaders from the district met at Eaton Vale for their annual activity camp, taking part in a selection of adventurous activities like canoeing, crate stacking archery and abseiling, as well some more sedate but none the less fun things like grass sledging, air rifle shooting, catapults and craft.
Despite the rain on the Saturday the cubs didn’t complain and we were rewarded with a lovely Sunday morning of glorious sunshine.
The theme of the camp was
‘Christmas’ and as part of the craft base the Cubs made a giant paper chain with a message on each link telling everyone about their favourite part, which was displayed at the Scouts Own as we closed the camp.
All in all, it was a great camp with new friends made and new challenges conquered and we’re already looking forward to next year’s event…

1st Acle Cubs had a brilliant time, even though the weather was a little drizzley they still enjoyed jumping in the lake after canoeing!!
They enjoyed crate stacking an activity that a few of them hadn’t done before, it was lovely to see them having a go at something brand new. They then went off to show off their shooting skills!
All the Cubs and their leaders had a great time, even the weather could not dampen their spirits! The weather even allowed us to do what the Acle group does best and have a camp fire, using one of the fire pits the Eaton Vale provide!
Also this year a special moment took place with the planting of a tree in memory of Roger Ditcham, who went home in 2017. His daughter Claire and grandson Benjamin did the honours along with support from Gillian Mays and our Scouting family.
