Camp out on Wednesday 29 July for Holly

Show your support for a Norfolk Scout’s remarkable achievement.

We’re looking for as many people as possible to camp in their garden (or build a den in the living room) on the evening of Wednesday 29 July to show our support for Holly, a member of 1st Caister Scout Group who is currently camping out in her garden.

Since our original article (below) Holly’s fundraising achievement continues to grow and she’s been featured in the local paper.

We’re looking for as many people as possible to camp in their garden (or build a den in the living room) on the evening of Wednesday 29 July to show our support for Holly, a member of 1st Caister Scout Group who is currently camping out in her garden.

13 year old Holly  tragically lost her father in 2019 and has been supported by the work of Norfolk based charity Nelson’s Journey.

When challenged by her Scout Leaders to see how many nights she could camp in her garden during lockdown, Holly set her goal high at 100 and has asked to be sponsored raising important funds for Nelson’s Journey. She has nearly reached £1,000.

Holly said “Nelsons journey has helped me so much since the sudden passing of my dad when he was 49 in January of 2019. I was only 12 and felt so lost. But since having support I’ve realised I’m not alone and others feel the same.

This is a very difficult time for them as they are not getting the fundraising they need so I thought even if it’s just a tiny bit, I could try and do my bit.”

The call to action is simple:

  • Camp out on 29 July
  • At 8pm make some noise for Holly – clap, cheer, shout! (and share it on our social media @norfolkscouts)
  • Consider, if you can, donating your ‘pitch fee’ to Holly’s fundraing total (Eaton Vale’s pitch fee is £3.00 as a guide)
