Carols & Time Out
Carols and Explorers, On Saturday I attended the Carol Service featuring the Poringland Singers and children from the Queens Hill Primary School in Costessey, what made it an extra special evening was that Patsy Peirson the Explorer Scout leader who sings with the choir had managed to obtain permission for five Explorer Scouts to be invested during the evening and I was able to present them with their badges and kneckerchieves, and as a surprise I presented Patsy with her Wood Badge. The young people invested came from Dragon Young Leaders Ryan McGee, Liam Peirson and Oliver Russell and from Amphipians Ryan Watts and Reuben Cooper, well done to them all and what a credit to scouting they where.
Time out and thoughts I am sure that thoughout the county, Colonys, Packs, Troops and Units as well as Network have been winding up at their meetings ready for the Christmas break and there will have been some great parties and events. As we all finish and leave the Scout HQ for the break to spend time with our familes and friends please have a thought for all those that are not able to be with their familes either because they are working, in hospital, or just not able to be there and for the many young people who will spend a lonely time at Christmas because they have perhaps no home, friends or family.
May I take this moment to thank you all for the time and effort you put into scouting and to the difference you make to many young peoples lives, enjoy the holiday and I hope to see many of you over the coming year and once again thanks to your families for their support which enables you to provide scouting in Norfolk.
Happy Christmas and a good New Year
