Helping Hands, Plans & Re-Opening
Scout CC helps Guide CC: During a Christmas dinner with the EVAC staff recently Helen Green County Guide Commissioner was left with no cream for her coffee and in true "hands across the table " I was only too pleased to share my coffee cream with Helen! It was good to see the EVAC staff enjoying some quality social time together something they do not normally get with their busy work schedule. I am sure we in Norfolk Scouts wish them all the best for the forthcoming year and our thanks for their continued dedication to the centre.
Plans,Plans and more Plans: Last Saturday the Senior Management Team met to look at the County Plan that had been arrived at last January by the members of the County Team. The purpose of the meeting was to review the targets and to add new one's. Whilst the SMT felt very critical that they had not moved the plan forward a great deal, it was very clear that when members of the County Team spent time at the County Team meeting on Sunday it was very clear from the feedback that we had been a little bit hard on our achievements, but we reminded ourselves that we must not sit back but move forward with the support to Districts and Groups and continue to plan for the next five years.
Back Home: Thursday evening saw the re-opening of 35th Norwich's HQ after the distaterous flood last year meant that the sections had to meet in different venues. Underterred they continued to meet and thanks to a grant from the Elham Trust, the future looks great for the group with Ronnie Mobbs who has been moving the building works along agreeing to be Acting Chairman and Brian Tucker a long standing member of scouting in the Norwich area taking on the role of Acting GSL. I was priviledged to join the newest Beaver Scout Jordan Hemmin in cutting the ribbon for everybody to go back in. The evening then continued with a performance by the beavers of a number of songs including the 12 days of Christmas, this was topped by the cubs with a number of stunts etc.. With the group re-commencing meeting in the HQ in January they are looking forward to growing and moving on, in fact following last nights ceremony a number of new volunteers came forward, including Treasurer, Secretary and possible leaders and other Exec members, I wish them every success in their plans and efforts.
