Ramblings ....

Written by gary on 12 November, 2011

Just over a year ago I commenced my role as County Commissioner and along with a plan for the next three years appointed a number of key people to help me give support to the districts, the deputy county commissioners have supported me at all times and the teams have offered and delivered the support to the districts which I felt was so important and I am sure they will have more to give ! Over the past year I have had the pleasure of meeting many new faces and many that I have previously known, my lasting experience of all these visits, meetings and events has been the passion which leaders and supporters in Norfolk Scouts have for what they do. Along the way we have experienced a few barriers but always the young people have come first.

With the winter well on its way can I remind all groups to be checking that all pipes are properly lagged and when buildings are unoccupied it might be sensible to turn of and drain the pipe, last year saw at least three groups in the county experience flooding caused by burst pipes and nearly a year on they are still coming to terms with the damage caused, this is something we might forget as we go out of the building and shut the door for week perhaps, worth also checking that building and equipment insurance are sufficient to cover new equipment etc that may have been purchased over the year.

The weekend sees the annual  Administrators Training Day taking place, this event is an opportunity for newly appointed administrators to learn about their roles and recieve  advice and up to date publications. I know that the new DCC adult Support and County Training Manager will be looking at the future delivery of this day with a view to perhaps delivering more days locally.
