WSJ, BEAVERS & BEACONS
The friendships formed by the Norfolk Contingent to the WSJ in Sweden this year have continued both locally and far away with many participants in touch with scouts across the world. Saturday saw the reunion and winding up of this contingent and it was apparent from seeing them produce their own presentation to parents and friends that they had had a truely great time. The vast amount of badges, shirts etc collected and swapped that was on display showed that as in the past the Norfolk Contingent had entered into the true spirit of the Jamboree.
Plans are now in hand to proceed with the arrangements for the next World Scout Jamboree hopefully to be held in Japan 2015. Whilst the 2011 jamboree experience is over and participants have returned to their respective troops and units their friendships will I am sure continue. I challenge the young people that if any of them wanted to go to the next Jamboree that they should sign up for the IST Team.
With Beavers celebrating 25years this year the normal CC's growth receptions gave way to a reception for all beaver leaders in the County last night with nearly a 100 from all over the county attending an evening at County Hall. Tributes where paid to Brenda Preston Norfolk's first ACC Beavers along with 7 Beaver leaders who had all completed at least 25years each in the Beaver section. Alex Minajew UK Commissioner for Programme was able to join us and paid tribute to all the leaders who had made the 25year celebration such a success nationally.
Looking ahead to next year's Queens Diamond Jubilee Celebration, Norfolk Scouts have signed up to participate in the Queens Jubilee Beacon Ceremony with all 9 Districts planning beacon events along with Eaton Vale Scout and Guide Activity Centre, so look out for your Districts plans.
