40 Years as Akela
A surprise presentation recently took place at the 1st Norwich Sea Scout HQ, to Charles Bartram who has been 'Akela' for 40 years. The event was kept a secret from Charles, who until he walked through the doors, thought he was holding a normal Cub Pack meeting.
The Lord Mayor of Norwich, Councilor Jenny Lay presented Charles a carriture on behalf of the Group, and the Sheriff of Norwich, Mr. Chris Higgins presented Charles's wife Emma with a bouquet of flowers.
Gary Burfield, County Commissioner for Nofolk Scouts, congratulated Charles on his remarkable achievement and Matthew Burrell, District Commissioner for Southern Norwich presented Charles with his 40 year service award from The Scout Association.
Several past Members attended along with members of the current 'Pack'.
