Central Norfolk Explorer’s Winter Weekend

Written by Mike on 13 February, 2012

Over the weekend of 3rd to 5th February Central Norfolk Explorer Scouts were at Roughton Mill.

Friday evening was spent pitching tents, cooking an 'expedition meal' using a mixture lightweight gas, coleman multi-fuel and hexamine stoves before heading off on a six and half mile night hike - just to refresh night navigation skills ahead of BPA, before a cold night camping.

Saturday teams walked into Cromer to carry out 'purpose' projects as practice for expeditions and on return to the mill created presentations of their projects.

Saturday evening was games and an Explorer Scout Forum before heading into tents for another cold night and a forecast of snow.

Sunday dawned with a good covering of the white stuff, which resulted in one popped down pop-up and unfortunately prevented our planned abseil down the mill tower but a quick change of programme resulted in building snowmen and other shapes! and a snow fight.
