Explorer Scouts 14 -18 Year Olds
‘To anyone who hasn’t tried Scouting before, I’d say come on up and have a go! I think that most people don’t really know that Scouting is about activities, friendship and meeting people from other countries. I’ve been in the Movement since I was a Beaver and I still love it!’
Explorer Scouts may meet on one evening a week, or fortnightly or monthly plus they also go on weekend/week long camps and expeditions and other day/overnight activities out throughout the year.
Whilst the activities they take part in will depend on their age, each Section gives young people the opportunity to learn by doing. The main programme areas are:
- Outdoor and Adventure
- Global
- Community
- Fit for Life
- Creative
- Beliefs and Attitudes
Scout Leaders are trained to deliver this programme, ensuring our young people stay safe while they enjoy themselves and learn.
Badges
Scouts of all ages work towards attaining awards in their chosen activities, and are awarded Scout Badges. The Explorer Scout's Chief Scout Diamond & Platinum Awards are linked to the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme and Activity Badges range from Hill Walking and Street Sports to Performing Arts and Public Relations.
