Sorry, I haven’t blogged for a couple of weeks. I have been using our fantastic new website but I have been posting news and things!
The weekend before last Nickie, David, Neville, Karen and I met on Saturday for a SMT (Senior Management Team) meeting. We were discussing plans for 2016 and in particular the Conference in January that we will support 3 districts with.
On Sunday we held our County Team day, it was a really good day. My team gave updates on a number of topics including Beavers and Cub celebrations for next year and other initiatives.
A copy of the slides have been sent out to all DCs – make sure this is shared with your teams.
We then spent some time as a group of County Team discussing Local Youth Commissioners, what they could contribute and how they could be supported.
Last Monday I did my Safeguarding refreshers with Peter C at Colman Road Scout HQ. A very serious topic, but good to see so many people taking time to get an understanding of how they can support and protect the young people they work with.
Wednesday I joined Jane and Tim with James H from Northern Norwich as we worked on the Beaver 30 Challenges that are going to be released in very early January. A big thank you to James who has shown himself as a real Subject Matter Expert when it comes to Beaver Scouts. I am really looking forward to everyone taking part!
Thursday was another Network wedding, this time Gary marrying Penny. I was honoured to be asked to read a lovely Pam Ayres poem (not in the accent) at a beutiful ceremony. As the ceremony came to an end a few of the old unit came together for a late night tipple and catch up…..
….Friday was a very slow day 😉
Saturday and Sunday were about housework, cycling, dinner with David and Nic and catching up on Scout work.
This Monday, I was really excited to be asked by the Scout Leaders of East Norfolk to go and compare their Carol Service. It was a lovely night, a chance to mingle with new and old friends, and the super supportive Lady Mayoress of Great Yarmouth at the really welcoming St Andrew’s church in Gorleston.
Thank you to Jennifer for letting me play!
It’s all downhill to Christmas now, lots of meals and parties to fit in, and still plenty of Scouting, I’ll make sure I keep you up-to-speed!
(PS sorry if there are typos – this is my first blog via iPad, I am a mouse and keyboard boy really!!)
