Would you have a few hours free each month to help the 46th Norwich Scout Group?
This Group has two rather unique sections:
(i) A joint Scout & Guide Unit, which meets each Wednesday evening on Buxton Ward at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, offering Scout and Guide based activities to the children aged between 6 and 18, who are inpatients that week.
The youngsters do not need to already belong to Scouts or Guides – but if they, or their parents are interested, contact information on how to join Scouts or Guides is passed onto them.
We run a flexible evening programme at the bedside on an individual basis from 6.00. to 8.00.pm. – with the evenings running on a flexible rota basis so those who can offer one or more Wednesday a month are very welcome!
The minimum age to assist with this section is 16.
(ii) A joint Scout/Explorer Scout Section, which meets from 2.00. to 4.30.pm. in the afternoon on the 2nd Saturday of each month at the Alec Bussey Centre, Rowington Road, Norwich NR1 3RR (in the same building as The Norfolk Scouts Trading Post).
This section offers the Scout programme (suitably adapted where necessary) to young people between the ages of 10 and 21 years, who have physical or sensory additional needs or learning disabilities – who are unable to be fully supported in a local group.
This section also runs occasional extra weekend activities and a summer weekend camping experience. We need to have at least one person to support each child at the monthly meeting. Young Leaders are particularly welcome to help with this section.
Suitable training and support will be provided to anyone interested in helping with either (or both sections).
