A message from Graham

Graham is the Regional Commissioner for the East of England

Fellow Scouters and supporters in Norfolk,

You will have seen/heard Matthew’s news via his video. As ever, he has been completely open about his circumstances, which have changed materially in the last few months and, I know that we shall all wish him well at the right time, hopefully on a F2F basis!

It will, of course, be a sad day when we lose him as your County Commissioner at the end of the year, but I know he’ll do a great job and make a real difference in the 25WSJ senior UK leadership team. In fact he’s doing so already, whilst his primary focus remains as your CC.

So, we have to move on in Norfolk, in good time and, with planning:

As we are within weeks of the school holidays, nothing tangible is going to happen until early September. Having said that, I shall be putting together the Search Group (most positions upon which are prescribed) and aim to advertise the role as early as possible in September.

In the meantime, I’ll leave you with some brief examples (below) of the sort of qualities we shall be looking for… You may like to take some time during the summer break, to think about your next role within Norfolk Scouting…

Are you, or do you know someone who is…

  • inspirational and enthusiastic
  • a brilliant problem solver
  • a dream at building and leading a team of key volunteers
  • resourceful and energetic
  • passionate about developing young people and volunteers

Thanks again to Matthew, for his amazing commitment to the CC role and, for leading you all in such a positive and forward-looking way. Please keep it going a little longer! 😉

Finally, I wish everyone in the county the very best for the summer and, thank you, sincerely, for everything you have done this year, to keep Norfolk Scouts going and, particularly, for keeping our young people engaged and having fun! You are all amazing!

I hope that you will find some time to relax and re-charge your batteries, so that we’re all ready for the New Scouting Year in September!

With my best wishes,

Graham Woolley
