A recent update to the Shooting
FS and rules within POR has come to light to the effect that the NSRA Youth Proficiency Tutor Diploma (Air Rifle) does not extend to Air Pistol and could lead to instructors not being covered by insurance when delivering Air Pistol sessions with their groups. This is of course a major disappointment to those of you who hold Air Pistols and effectively puts virtually all Air pistol Shooting on hold until at least one person is qualified and present at range practices.
The team here in Norfolk are working hard to put in place a series of one day top up courses for those already holding the NSRA YPTD Air Rifle to qualify those wishing to deliver Air Pistol shooting. Please lodge your expression of interest with Carole Fleming at email@example.com.
For those that hold the NSRA RCO Qualification, you are unaffected (confirmed with the training manager at the NSRA) and may continue to run Air Pistol range practices because this is the higher level qualification.
Another alternative is to complete the NSRA Club Instructor Airgun (2 day course) which is the first step on the coaching pathway and covers techniques in both rifle and Pistol disciplines for higher level competition shooting for those who are already proficient target shooters. If there is enough interest (12 per course) a course will be arranged, again, please lodge your expression of interest with Carole.
If you require further information or clarification please contact Tony Clarke (County Shooting Advisor).
