Art Around the World

Looking for something a little different to try this Spring?

World Art Day on 15 April could be a great opportunity for volunteers to explore creativity from across the globe with their young people.

Art is a universal language, and every country has its own unique styles, stories and traditions to share. From Aboriginal dot painting in Australia to Japanese origami or African mask making, there are plenty of ways to bring an international twist to your programme.

You might invite young people to explore a piece of artwork from another country that they like, find interesting, or even find a bit confusing. They could recreate it, take inspiration from it, or simply share what they have learned with the rest of the section at a future meeting.

It could also be an opportunity to try a new technique, learn about a different culture, or support badges such as Artist or Creative.

World Art Day is all about celebrating expression in all its forms, and recognising that creativity looks different around the world.
